There was a good turnout of members and industry representatives to today's Refresher Day for the Continental Irish Car of the Year 2014 finalist cars.
The event was held as usual at the Springfield Hotel in Leixlip, a venue which by general agreement works very well for the day. Though this year, with no less than 16 cars in the final shortlist, as well as four vans for this year’s Continental Irish Van of the Year Awards, it was a very crowded car park.
The cars available for members to drive were BMW 4 Series, Citroen C4 Picasso, Dacia Sandero, Ford Fiesta ST, Kia Carens, Mazda6, Nissan Juke Nismo, Peugeot 2008, Peugeot 208 GTi, Range Rover, Renault Clio, Skoda Octavia, Toyota Auris, Toyota Corolla, Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Golf GTI. They had been chosen from a first ballot of 51 eligible cars.
The vans in contention are the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Nissan NV200, Renault Kangoo and Toyota ProAce. The Car-Derived Vans and SUV Commercials segments which will be announced later were also represented.
The winning car and van, and car categories, will be announced at a lunch in the Crowne Plaza Hotel on 21 November.
